The SDX5400W is an AIT-5 tape by Sony Corporation. The Sony AIT-5 SDX5-400W is the smallest tape technology to recommend massive native capacity of 400GB. It has a constant native transfer rate of up to 24MB/second. With compression, the AIT-5 format will also enable stored capacity of up to 1.04 TB per cartridge. The main difference between AIT-5 SDX5-400W and the AIT-5 SDX5-400C is that SDX5-400W is a W.O.R.M (Write Once Read Many) tape, whereas AIT-5 SDX5-400 can be used several times to write data. The AIT 5 technology is offering new Sony SDX5-400W Tape Cartridge which proficient with unique and exclusive capabilities of the mechanism in measurement to its form factor. The AIT cartridge based on 8mm wide tape compare to many other magnetic tape format, which represent same capacity, including LTO and SDLT technologies, media cartridge which are characteristic with half-inch wide tape.
